Laius said that he wanted to research the ancient civilisation and that was why he had been kidnapped. He helped you to break out of the prison by putting the Idgel Core into a modified Aether Cannon. His instructions helped you to break out. After fleeing, Laius said he would tell you everything about the ancient civilisation of the Rune Tribe. That is why he wanted you to go with him. You refused his offer, however, as you had to report back first. You reported to Garn about how you broke out of prison. He was glad that you had returned in one piece and said he needed Laius' help.
